1. What type of school is LVA?

A. LVA is a non-sectarian private PreK-8 school. We are not a charter school, nor are we affiliated with any religion.

2. Is LVA a Common Core school?

A. No, LVA does not adhere to Common Core. We use a rigorous curriculum from Savvas (formerly Pearson) for all subjects, which meets or exceeds state and national standards, and we supplement it as needed.

3. Is LVA entirely Slingerland?

A. No, the majority of LVA students do not participate in the Slingerland program.

4. Where is LVA located?

A. LVA is located at 557 B Olivina Ave., just off of Murrieta, in Livermore, CA.

5. What are the school hours?

A. Academic hours are 8:30AM - 3:00PM. Extended care hours are 8:00AM - 8:30AM; 3:00PM - 5:00PM. The office can be reached by phone during these times.

6. Do you have uniforms?

A. LVA has a dress code, which requires students to be dressed neatly, but does not have a uniform.

7. What is your average class size?

A. Our average class size is about 10 students. Our max size under our Covid19 policy is 14 for PreK-3, 16 for 4-8, both of which are under the CDC standard of 17.

8. Does LVA require parent volunteer hours?

A. No, LVA does not require volunteer hours, though we welcome and encourage volunteerism, both in our students and our families!

9. Does LVA have mandatory fundraisers?

A. No, LVA does not have any mandatory fundraisers or minimum buy-ins. We run small, ad hoc fundraisers from time to time, always benefitting a specific aspect of the school.

10. Does LVA have hot lunch?

A. Yes, LVA cooks hot lunches in house, which can be purchased daily for an additional cost ($5-6). Parents set up a lunch account for students, and lunches are automatically deducted.

11. Does LVA have sports?

A. Though many of our students participate in extracurricular sports, LVA does not currently have any school-specific sports teams.

12. Where do LVA students come from?

A. LVA students primarily come from the Tri-Valley area (Livermore, Dublin, Pleasanton), but some come from further afield. Our older students have transferred from a variety of public, private, and parochial schools.

13. My child is ahead/behind his/her peers. Would LVA be a good fit?

A. LVA prides itself on our ability to differentiate instruction within the classroom. We have many students at different levels who are all challenged appropriately, including several students working at least a grade ahead in ELA and/or Math.
